Counter-Strike 2 is set to make its Esports Nations Cup debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, bringing one of the world’s most competitive first-person shooters into a nation-based format.

Twenty-four national lineups will compete in 5v5 play on PC for a share of a $1,320,000 prize pool, with national pride on the line across a week of high-level competition.
Fans can expect matches defined by precision gunplay, tactical coordination, and disciplined utility usage. Every round tests the strategic execution of the best teams and players in the world.
The Esports Nations Cup introduces a new layer of prestige to Counter-Strike 2 competition. Teams will represent their nations rather than clubs, making every tactical choice and round win a test of national preparation. As established powers face emerging challengers, the event sets the stage for new rivalries to develop on the global stage.
The Esports Nations Cup runs from November 2nd through November 29th, with Counter-Strike 2 anchoring the second week of competition from the 10th to 15th. The tournament features 24 participants in a multi-stage format. The tournament opens with 24 national teams divided into four groups of six, competing in a round-robin group stage.
The top four teams from each group will advance from group play, narrowing the field to 16 teams. The remaining teams will compete in a single-elimination playoff bracket, with matches played as best-of-three, culminating in a best-of-five Grand Final.
The 24 teams at ENC will be determined through a two-stage qualification process, beginning with National Qualifiers and concluding with Regional Qualifiers. Eligibility and seeding for qualifiers are determined by the CS2 National Team Ranking, which is based on the Valve Regional Standings and aggregates points from the top five players on each national roster.
The cut-off date for the CS2 National Team Ranking is June 1st with FACEIT Elo used as a secondary mechanism for nations not represented in the Valve rankings.
National Qualifiers will be held across regions including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East + Central Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania, ensuring broad global participation.
National Qualifiers will be hosted across 96 countries and territories, with each nation fielding between 32 and 64 teams in single-elimination competition to determine its top national lineup.
Regional Qualifiers will use a double-elimination format, with qualification slots distributed across regions including Western Europe, Eastern Europe, North America, South America, and Asia-Pacific.
More than 15,000 players across over 3,000 teams are expected to compete in the Counter-Strike 2 qualification process, making it the largest open national qualification program ever staged in the game’s history.
All national rosters must feature players with the same citizenship, with restrictions in place to limit the number of players from a single VRS-ranked club on any one national team.
Counter-Strike 2 at the Esports Nations Cup is designated as a VRS Tier 2 event, with participating clubs eligible to earn VRS points through released national team rosters.
Counter-Strike 2 has a highly competitive global scene, with Europe and North America consistently producing elite national lineups. Emerging regions from Asia and Latin America are increasingly challenging the established hierarchy, making for a dynamic international field.
Counter-Strike 2 delivered a defining national storyline at the Esports World Cup 2025, where The MongolZ defeated Aurora Gaming in the Grand Final, marking a milestone moment for nation-based competition on the global stage.
With only one national lineup representing each region, the margin for error is minimal and every series carries added significance. The Esports Nations Cup offers a true measure of global strength, where preparation and execution will determine which nations rise and which ignite new rivalries in the opening chapter of the Esports Nations Cup.
