Esports Nations Cup 2026 Announces FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves Invites

Reigning EWC Champions and FGC Legends Highlight the List of 16 FATAL FURY Pro Players Directly Invited to Compete at ENC in Riyadh

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (June 29, 2026) - The Esports Foundation (EF) today announced the direct invites to the FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves tournament at the Esports Nations Cup 2026 (ENC), the global nation-based esports competition set to debut in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from November 2-29, 2026.

A total of 32 players will compete in the FATAL FURY tournament at ENC 2026. 16 players representing 16 countries and territories, determined through official citizenship, have received direct invitations through the official SNK World Championship 2026 Ranking system, which aggregates points earned by players based on their placements in sanctioned SNK World Championship events. The top player in points from each country or territory receives the invitation. For players tied on points, the tie-breaker was determined by the strongest results achieved in higher-tier competitions.

The players receiving direct invitations are:

  1. PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA - XiaoHai
  2. MEXICO - Dany
  3. JAPAN - GO1
  4. CHINESE TAIPEI - ZJZ
  5. GREECE - H-DOPE
  6. REPUBLIC OF KOREA - POONGKO
  7. PERU - TheGio
  8. BRAZIL - DidimoKOF
  9. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - NYChrisG
  10. ARGENTINA - ALEX
  11. CHILE - SharkUrien
  12. SAUDI ARABIA - AbuOmar
  13. FRANCE - Kumoko
  14. GERMANY - Dai
  15. SENEGAL - Alioune
  16. CZECHIA - Pida

Near the top of the rankings is the consensus number one player in the world, winner of EWC 2025, EVO 2025, and Combo Breaker 2026, GO1 from Japan. To put his dominance in perspective, he had already secured the very highly contested invite spot from Japan before EVO 2026 even began, as he had an 8,000+ point lead over the next highest Japanese player, making it impossible for anyone to pass him. While missing EVO ultimately cost him the number one spot on the rankings, he’s still a strong contender in November.

Sitting just above GO1 is his long-time rival in XiaoHai. It was GO1 that defeated XiaoHai in the Grand Final of the very first FATAL FURY event at EWC 2025, but XiaoHai would get his revenge weeks later in a different title, beating GO1 in the quarterfinals of Street Fighter 6 at EWC 2025 before going on to win the whole event. In the past two months, he’s added not one but two EVO trophies in FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves to his trophy cabinet, winning in Japan and in Las Vegas to secure a spot at EWC 2026, a spot at the SWC 2026 Finals, and the top spot in the ENC 2026 invites.

Mexico has transformed into a goldmine for FATAL FURY superstars, with several prolific global Clubs like Team Falcons, Gen.G, NAVI, Virtus.pro, and All Gamers signing top Mexican pros over the past year. Multiple players from Mexico were in close contention for the invite slot to ENC, but Dany of Gen.G claimed it after an elite 2026 campaign that included 11 top-four finishes, seven grand final appearances, and five trophies, as well as a guaranteed spot at EWC 2026 in Paris.

Alioune has made ENC history for his country, becoming the first player from Senegal to qualify for any ENC competition. The 17-year veteran has competed across multiple titles and franchises over the years, but is still seeking that first major trophy.

With 16 players now invited directly to the FATAL FURY main event at ENC 2026, we now turn to regional online qualifiers, through which 13 more players will qualify. One player from each region will qualify: North America, Central America, Latin America North, Latin America South, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Sub Saharan Africa, Oceania, East Asia, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. The final 3 slots are attributed to Wildcard slots: one Special Invite, one Host Region Slot, and one Solidarity Slot. The special invite will go to the playoff winner between the best performing players from the People’s Republic of China at the SNK Championship Series Season 1 and 2 Finals, as players from mainland China are otherwise unable to compete in online regional qualifiers with other regions.
